New parents can get up to 40 dollars extra a week, from next month

Workplace Relations and Safety Minister Michael Wood's announced the increase in paid parental leave entitlements today, saying it's hoped to help ease cost of living pressures.

The maximum weekly payment will increase to just over 661 dollars ? up 6.3 percent before tax.

It'll give those taking the full 26 weeks' leave an extra 1040 dollars.
