Belief the Government needs to step up, and make urgent changes to the energy market

An open letter to Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, claims the current system is broken - leaving Kiwi's with soaring power prices.

It's signed by groups including Auckland Business Chamber, Consumer NZ and Employers and Manufacturers Association.

Consumer NZ CEO Jon Duffy, says the sector needs fixing or we won't achieve the economic growth the Government's talking about.

He says costs will continue to pile up, and the country will end up in a dark place.
