Christchurch Casino's been hit with a five-million-dollar fine for breaching anti-money laundering laws

Christchurch Casino's been hit with a five-million-dollar fine for breaching anti-money laundering laws

The Department of Internal Affairs found breaches over five years - from 2018 to 2023.

It found the casino failed to properly check customers, monitor accounts and keep required records.

Justice Rachel Dunningham says the failings were serious and systemic - adding, the company took a somewhat casual approach to its legal obligations.

Christchurch Casino's admitted to seven breaches and accepted the fine.
