Recognition for the lawyer behind class action against two major banks

Recognition for the lawyer behind class action against two major banks

Online law analysis platform LawFuel has named Scott Russell as its New Zealand Lawyer of the Year.

Russell's been recognised for leading actions against ASB and ANZ over alleged breaches of consumer finance laws, relating to disclosure documents provided to some customers who asked to change their lending arrangements.

ASB's agreed to settle - paying plaintiffs more than 135-million-dollars.

Action's continuing against ANZ, which is defending the claim.
