A surge in demand across Auckland hospitals

A surge in demand across Auckland hospitals

Middlemore Hospital has seen a 28 per cent jump in adult inpatient admissions in the last month compared to this time last year.

Auckland City Hospital has also seen a rise -- of an average 24 extra patients a day.

Counties Manukau DHB is blaming the surge on Aucklanders returning to the city and deciding to have their conditions or injuries checked out post-holiday.

North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals have also both seen high demand for services over the last two weeks.
