New Zealand may need to tighten its borders if we want to keep out Omicron

New Zealand may need to tighten its borders if we want to keep out Omicron

25 community cases of Covid-19 have been declared today.

One case reported yesterday has now been confirmed to be the Omicron variant and linked to the border.

All seven of that case's household contacts have returned negative results.

Epidemiologist Professor Michael Baker says with so many people arriving at the border with Omicron, it's not surprising it got out.

Professor Baker says we may need to let in fewer people if we want MIQ to be affective.
