People collecting prescription lenses are being warned to take care at optometrists

The Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Board has received complaints from patients incorrectly dispensed lenses by retail staff.

Board chair, Kristine Hammond, says only dispensing opticians are registered with the board.

She says that means they're limited in protecting patients - if retail staff make errors.

Because they aren't registered, she says, the board has no authority over them.
