An Auckland woman says she's starving to death, losing over 15 kilograms, because the hospital refuses to treat her

Stuff reports Billie Fairchilds-Mckelvie says she has EDS, which makes it difficult for her to eat without being fed through a tube.

She claims doctors at Auckland Hospital believe she's imagining her disorder and have refused to provide her with treatment.

A Health New Zealand spokesperson says EDS is an extremely rare condition, so a diagnosis must be carefully considered.

They say patients are managed in a multidisciplinary manner and receive treatment that can involve pain management, physiotherapy, and splinting.
