The pharmacy sector is concerned year long prescriptions will change the way GP visits operate

The pharmacy sector is concerned year long prescriptions will change the way GP visits operate

Those with long-term conditions can now receive 12-month prescriptions - reducing trips to the GP - and saving about 100 dollars in yearly fees.

But chair of the Independent Community Pharmacy Group Clive Cannons says it's not appropriate for every patient to get a year long prescription.

He says some doctors are nervous about how appointments may now look.

He says some doctors may prefer to see a patient every three months which is entirely their call.
