Our laboratory sector is calling out for more workers as they see increased testing demand

The New Zealand Institute of Medical Laboratory Science says the workforce was 10 percent lower than needed - before Covid-19.

Since January this year, labs have had to deal with a workload increase of at least 25 percent.

President Terry Taylor says it won't be an overnight fix.

He says it takes several years to train a person up to the level that's required.
