A campaign for continuous glucose monitors to be funded for all insulin-dependent diabetics

A campaign for continuous glucose monitors to be funded for all insulin-dependent diabetics

Across the ditch, the technology will be subsidised for all Australian type 1 diabetics from later this year, regardless of the federal election result, after both major parties committed to the funding.

Diabetes New Zealand Chief Executive Heather Verry says there's about 25-thousand people with type 1 diabetes here.

She says they're life-changing, not just for the person with diabetes, but their family too.

Verry says it means everyone can go to sleep knowing an alarm will sound, if their blood glucose is going low.
