The Ministry of Health's confident we have Covid's latest sub-variant under wraps

The Ministry of Health's confident we have Covid's latest sub-variant under wraps

Two people with the Omicron BA.4 variant are isolating at home.

The strain's been reported in southern Africa and Europe, and in New South Wales.

The Ministry stresses its arrival here isn't unexpected -- and so far our public health settings are still appropriate.

Meanwhile, we have 6636 new community Covid cases to report today, and 480 hospitalisations -- 12 in ICU.

Seven people have died with the virus in the past two days.
