Many migraine patients aren't getting the help they need from our healthcare system

Many migraine patients aren't getting the help they need from our healthcare system

Otago University research has found significant barriers to effective treatment - including cost, long wait times, and lack of access to specialists.

More than 750-thousand Kiwis experience migraines.

But study co-author Jonathan Kennedy says there's a shortage of neurologists, and lots of pressure on GPs.

He says there aren't enough specialist appointments available, and patients consulting GPs need better access.
