Changes to prescribing rules are being hailed as a great first step for improving access to ADHD care

Changes to prescribing rules are being hailed as a great first step for improving access to ADHD care

GPs and nurse practitioners can now start a patient on ADHD treatment, without specialist intervention.

ADHD New Zealand spokesperson Darrin Bull says it's a change which they've advocated for a long time.

He says there are other challenges but it's still a great start.

Bull says it will take time to embed itself in the health system and there are still cost barriers.
