The Police watchdog has found an officer involved in a crash with a fleeing driver, broke the rules

The Police watchdog has found an officer involved in a crash with a fleeing driver, broke the rules

The collision occurred when the officer drove the wrong way up Hobson Street, from the Auckland Central Police Station in December 2017.

The officer was looking for a car involved in an abandoned pursuit, when the wanted car ran a red light and hit the patrol vehicle.

The Independent Police Conduct Authority has found the officer acted against their 'Fleeing driver's policy'.

Auckland City District Commander Superintendent Karyn Malthus says the officer had good intentions, but shouldn't have driven the wrong way.
