    Police are continuing to stop people trying to cross the borders around Auckland


    They stopped a driver at the Mercer Southern Checkpoint at 7 last evening who was in breach of bail conditions .

    Another person was hiding in the vehicle.

    The 31-year-old driver and his 27-year-old passenger will appear in court tomorrow facing drugs and Covid-19 border breach charges.

    A driver fleeing the same checkpoint was also stopped by police last night.

    A 30-year-old man will appear in court at a later date - charged with breaching Covid-19 restrictions and failing to stop.

    A 55-year-old man has been arrested for various offences detected at the northern border..
