The Coalition for the Safety of Women and Children says a young woman killed in 2022 would probably still be alive if stalking was criminalised

The Coalition for the Safety of Women and Children says a young woman killed in 2022 would probably still be alive if stalking was criminalised

The Police watchdog's investigated the murder of Auckland student Farzana Yaqubi , eight weeks after she reported being harassed.

The IPCA's found the way Police assess stalking allegations, isn't fit-for-purpose.

It says they failed to link her complaint with a similar one from another young woman.

Police accept they should have acted sooner.

Coalition Chair, Leonie Morris, is urging the Justice Minister make stalking a criminal offence.
