An Auckland man on bail has been arrested after a modified pistol, ammunition and methamphetamine were found in his car

Police laid pre-emptive spikes along Clevedon Road just after three this morning, after spotting a late model vehicle travelling at high speed.

The driver tried to escape Police after leaving the car on Cargill Street in Papakura.

The 33 year old is facing charges of unlawfully carrying a firearm, ammunition and meth, driving dangerously and escaping custody.

The patched King Cobra member was already facing numerous charges in the Papakura District Court.
