Foodstuffs has apologised over an alleged extortion attempt at a South Auckland Pak'nSave

Foodstuffs has apologised over an alleged extortion attempt at a South Auckland Pak'nSave

A shopper at the Manukau supermarket says she was stopped by security on January 25th - who accused her of shoplifting and demanded she pay 395 dollars.

The woman, from China, says she was led to an office where she was asked for her citizenship status, ID and details - and threatened with more fines.

She says she was let go after CCTV footage showed she hadn't shoplifted - but not before a male guard demanded he take a photo of her.

Police are looking into the incident - and the security company says it's fired the guard allegedly involved.
