The loved ones of a man who died after a police confrontation allege officers violently assaulted him - and are calling for mandatory body cameras

45 year-old Faasala Samu Matue died last Sunday at Auckland's Orere Point after he and another person were trying to flee police.
Matue allegedly bit an officers hand and threatened them with a metal pole.
The petition, calling for mandatory body cameras has so far received more than 6000 signatures.
Police are investigating the case.
