Auckland police have arrested three youths following reports of a stabbing, outside a hobby store in Newmarket

Auckland police have arrested three youths following reports of a stabbing, outside a hobby store in Newmarket

Police say they were called to the property on Broadway shortly before 6pm yesterday, where three young males allegedly stole from the business and fled on foot.

Detective Senior Sergeant Matt Bunce says an employee pursued the group - but one of the males presented a knife and he suffered a moderate stab wound.

Newmarket Security managed to hold them while police arrived - who subsequently tracked down the other two males at Newmarket Train Station.

Bunce says a 16-year-old from Hamilton is charged with aggravated wounding and shoplifting, while two 13 year-olds will be referred to Youth Aid.
