A woman has died after a rare side effect of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine

A woman has died after a rare side effect of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine

The Covid-19 Vaccine Independent Safety Monitoring Board says she likely died from myocarditis - a type of inflammation in the heart.

It's urged healthcare workers and consumers to remain vigilant for myocarditis and pericarditis, a similar condition.

The board has extended sympathies to the woman's family and friends.

The case has been referred to the Coroner - and the official cause of death is yet to be determined.
