    A man is in a critical condition after being restrained in custody in Manukau


    Police arrested a man in Otara for breaching electronically monitored bail yesterday.

    They say the man was placed in restraint chair for his own safety after he became aggressive.

    His condition started to deteriorate and he was transported to Middlemore Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

    Investigations are underway and the Independent Police Conduct Authority have been notified.
