    The former Ports of Auckland chief executive has pleaded not guilty to two charges in relation to the death of a worker in 2020


    Stevedore Pala'amo "Amo" Kalati was crushed when a container was dropped during a lifting operation on a night shift at the Fergusson Container Terminal.

    Tony Gibson was charged on August 13 last year, a year after the death of 31 year old Kalati , a father of seven.

    The charges under the Health and Safety at Work Act against Gibson could bring 400 thousand dollars in fines if he's found guilty.

    The charges relate to offences of "failing to comply with duty that exposes individual to risk of death or serious injury or serious illness".

    Gibson is set to appear in the Auckland District Court in October.
