    A 29-year-old former Destiny Church disciple has been sentenced to more than six years in prison - for sexual abuse - and must register as a sex offender


    Kiwa Hemi Tamati Edward Hamiora-Te Hira pleaded guilty to eight representative sexual offences - for assaults of six victims aged 13-to-24.

    He assisted with Boys to Men and Youth Nation, programmes the complainants understood to be connected to the Church, which they attended with the defendant.

    Hamiora-Te Hira's role included co-ordinating programmes, mentoring and counselling young males.

    He was banned from Destiny Church after his alleged offending was reported to police late 2023.
