Microsoft's boss says the tech sector cannot be all profit and no responsibility

Microsoft's boss says the tech sector cannot be all profit and no responsibility

Brad Smith says the 1996 US law that created immunity for interactive services was the right law at the time - but that time has passed.

Speaking after Christchurch Call meetings in New York, he says there needs to be discussion about what responsibilities companies should have under the law.

Smith says the Call is a very important model - imposing more responsibility on companies, who are stepping up and working together in the only way that will make a difference ... with multi-stakeholder action.
