National's mobile phone ban in schools has support but it could be made even more popular with a few tweaks

National's mobile phone ban in schools has support but it could be made even more popular with a few tweaks

A Horizon Research poll found 56 percent of respondents support a ban for the whole day while only 20 percent are opposed.

Horizon Principal Graeme Colman says a plan that would ban them only during class time and not breaks got 61 percent.

Colman says even though there's broad support it could run into issues.

He says principals want to retain discretion and there could be some implementation issues.
