Conversation is Key: Kiwi women favour chat skills in online dating, survey shows

A transformative survey by NZDating.com unveils a compelling narrative on contemporary dating criteria, with at least 40% of Kiwi women emphasizing the value of engaging in conversation above all else in online dating scenarios.

The survey data paints a compelling picture: a substantial 40% slice of the NZ female dating pool is swayed by the siren song of stellar communication. This figure speaks volumes about the shifting sands in dating dynamics, where the ability to strike a meaningful conversation becomes a make-or-break trait in pursuing love and connection.

However, the battle between the eyes and the soul is also ever-present in romance. The survey sheds light on this, with photos nudging just ahead of personality, captivating 26% of the cohort's interest, while personality is a close contender at 25%. This statistical tango suggests that the allure of a potential partner lies in a harmonious blend of visual and emotional attraction.

Not to be overshadowed, shared passions carve out their niche, with 8% of women affirming that aligning hobbies and interests is critical in igniting the sparks of interest. Whether it's the love for art, a penchant for adventure, or a shared culinary curiosity, common passions remain a cornerstone of the architecture of affinity.

These findings offer a treasure trove of insights for New Zealanders on online dating platforms, highlighting an unequivocal demand for features that nurture connections and conversations that resonate.

As the digital dating scene evolves, so must the platforms that serve as the conduits for modern romance.

NZ women are represented by a mosaic of individual preferences, signifying the nuanced and diverse criteria women apply when sifting through online dating profiles.

These insights are reshaping the approach of online dating services, as the data dictates a growing trend towards platforms that foster rich, engaging conversations, such as NZDating.com which has rich discussion forums, in person events and private, internal email.

As NZDating.com celebrates its 25th year of successful operation with over 2.5 million free accounts created and hundreds of thousands of happy couplings, spokesperson John Harris says their dedication to online dating in New Zealand continues to evolve in step with these findings to offer an enriched, inclusive user-centric dating journey for Kiwis of all ages and persuasions.

"NZDating.com invites singles and seekers of love to dive into the depths of Kiwi romance, where the currency of conversation is valued above all. NZDating.com's free memberships allow Kiwis to discover a space where words weave the initial threads of connection, leading to relationships built on a foundation of meaningful dialogue." he says.
