Frustration for Hutt Valley High Principal as the school's toxic mould problem worsens

Frustration for Hutt Valley High Principal as the school's toxic mould problem worsens

Last month toxic black mould was found in the school's C Block prompting a decision to demolish the building and forcing year 12 and 13 students to learn from home for half the week. .

Further testing of other buildings has now revealed mould in other areas including science labs, the main gym and student centre.

Acting Principal, Denise Johnson says the results aren't surprising given the age of the buildings.

Johnson says the last thing you want is for staff to be focusing on health and safety rather than teaching.
