This year's McEvedy Shield athletics championships have been cancelled

This year's McEvedy Shield athletics championships have been cancelled

The famous trophy is competed for every year between Wellington College, St Patrick's College Silverstream, St Patrick's College Town and Rongotai College.

The event, held annually since 1922, was scheduled for Tuesday of this week, but couldn't go ahead under level two restrictions.

The four schools have been unable to coordinate their calendars on a date when Newtown Park is available.

The only other time the event was cancelled was in 1948 due to the Polio epidemic.
