Covid cases are continuing to pop up among schoolchildren and teachers

Ministry of Education figures show more than 650 new school cases have been reported across New Zealand in the past 24 hours - with 5071 over the past 10 days.

Nearly 80 percent of Auckland schools are dealing with cases - more than double the number in other parts of the country.

There have been 356 new school cases in the region since yesterday - 304 of them students.

Wellington has the second highest figures - with 135 students and teachers testing positive since yesterday.
