    A Canterbury University student will appear in court today, after Police allegedly discovered weapons in his hostel room


    Police say they found a pocket knife and a baton in the man's room about 2am last Thursday.

    The 20-year-old is charged with possession of an offensive weapon, and unlawful possession of firearms or restricted weapons.

    A university spokesperson says student and staff wellbeing and safety is important, and they're taking the matter very seriously.

    The spokesperson says no-one has been harmed.
