Police are urging parents to have proactive conversations with their children, due to ongoing sextortion complaints

Police are urging parents to have proactive conversations with their children, due to ongoing sextortion complaints

One News is reporting Police are investigating cases where Dunedin High School students have been targeted.

Detective Senior Sergeant Kepal Richards says sextortion complaints are slightly down on last year at approximately 10 a week due to rising awareness.

But he says this is only the tip of the iceberg as it generally goes unreported, adding Netsafe receives abut three-and-a-half times more reports than they do.
