    New Canterbury University research shows a link between where children grow up and mental health


    The study found children who moved from a well-off area to a more deprived neighbourhood were more likely to suffer from depression - than those who had a stable life in an affluent area.

    It combined geospatial information with data from the Christchurch Health and Development Study.

    Lead researcher Susie Deng says it looked at whether the impacts continued throughout the participants' lives - and found the impacts didn't continue through to adulthood.
