Teaching and principal vacancies have surged in the past two months - nearly doubling nationwide

The Education Gazette lists more than 830 vacancies nationwide - up 85 percent on mid-January's 450.

That includes 44 principal and senior leadership positions - covering assistant and deputy principals.

More than 250 vacancies are in early childhood, with a similar number in primary schools - and 260 at secondary level.

Six hundred and eighty roles - around 80 percent - are full-time.
