A promising weekend for a tourist mecca in the South Island

A promising weekend for a tourist mecca in the South Island

Covid-19 has had a big impact on Queenstown, with tourist numbers reducing to a trickle.

But Queenstown Lakes District Mayor Jim Boult says the town's been pleasantly busy over the past few days.

He says it hasn't gone crazy but there have been good numbers of people around, behaving and maintaining physical distancing.

Jim Boult says the situation's been helped by absolutely stunning weather.
