People are being warned of common boating blunders, as the NZ Boat Show takes place

Thousands have streamed through the Auckland Showgrounds' gates to take part in the annual event.

Maritime NZ Safety Advisor Matt Wood says new and experienced boaties need to take care.

He says there's been an increase of avoidable dangers including small craft's capsizing close to shore and people not wearing lifejackets.
