Christchurch Airport is ready to go for its busiest day of the year

    Wellington Airport

Twenty-thousand travellers are expected to pass through its terminals today, largely made up of those from domestic flights.

Airport spokesperson Sean Tully says staff are prepared for the influxes of people -- with extra team members rostered to help travellers.

He says it anticipates an additional six-thousand passengers through the terminal this year, on 2023 numbers.

Both Auckland and Wellington Airports are expecting today to be one of the busiest of the festive period.

Next Friday will be Air New Zealand's most popular day, with more than 50-thousand passengers flying domestically, and overseas.
