New Zealanders seem to be slowing down on their alcohol, with consumption reaching an all time low

New Zealanders seem to be slowing down on their alcohol, with consumption reaching an all time low

Stats NZ data for 2024 reveals the total volume of alcoholic beverages available for consumption was down 4.3 percent.

It follows declines in the previous two years.

Alcohol Beverages Council Executive Director Virginia Nicholl says it shows our drinking culture is shifting.

She says we are drinking in moderation with a focus on health, with lower alcohol options.
