The union for education specialists is seeking an injunction - to stop the Ministry of Education docking pay for workers taking industrial action

NZEI Te Riu Roa members - who support children with extra learning needs - are only working their contracted hours for a month, and sticking to existing caseloads.

They say Ministry bargaining hasn't addressed long child waitlists and excessive staff overtime.

Those working to rule are getting a temporary 10 percent pay cut - which the union calls overreach.

It says the law is clear employers shouldn't dock pay during a strike involving refusal to work overtime.
