Frustration among officers as NZ Police comes up with an "insulting" pay offer, after lengthy negotiations

Frustration among officers as NZ Police comes up with an "insulting" pay offer, after lengthy negotiations

The offer involved a five thousand dollar wage increase for sworn officers backdated to November last year, and a 5.25 percent increase in allowances....followed by four percent wage and allowance increases in September, and then again in July next year.

The Police Association has rejected the offer saying officers are not being afforded the respect they deserve - amid growing demands, expectations and danger.

The Association adds it's insulting the backdating doesn't go back to July last year, and the second increase should come into effect sooner.
