The establishment near Queenstown was voted third best in the international restaurants category at the Food & Wine Global Tastemakers Awards.

A judging panel of more than 400 expert chefs and food writers cast their vote.

Vaughn Mabee says it's unknown when a judge is in-house - ensuring everyone gets the top treatment.

Mabee himself was also voted in the top 45 chefs - the only Kiwi on the list.
