JB Gill "got a little bit nervous" when he found out he was to become a dad

The 34-year-old pop star has Ace, six, and Chiara, two, with his wife Chloe, and she's admitted that JB was a little anxious when they discovered they were set to become parents for the first time

She shared: "That was a surprise, he got a little bit nervous then."

Then, JB added: "Yeah I did, not at the prospect of having children, it was just very sudden and I don’t think I was expecting it to be as quick as that, do you know what I mean? And for me I take things like that very very seriously."

JB is determined to be a true father figure for his children.

The JLS star is particularly determined to be a good role model for his son.

He told Giovanna Fletcher’s 'Happy Mum Happy Baby' podcast: "For me, as a father, especially in the black community, you know the role of the father, not always, I think it is changing.

"But historically, it is under-represented and I already see it in Ace anyway but just to encourage him to be the father figure that he ... that I believe he was born and created to be and just to take that responsibility with both hands."

JB previously admitted that Ace immediately built a rapport with his little sister.

He said: "He's been amazing, he's so proud to tell everyone, 'This is my sister,' and he wants to involve Chiara in everything, like story time and bath time.

"He's a typical boisterous boy, but he instinctively knew he had to be gentle with her and he talks to her really softly."
