Susan Sarandon thinks the world needs to rediscover the attitude of the 60s

The 78-year-old actress feels society suffers from a culture of "negativity and selfishness and greed", and Susan would love to see the world rediscover the spirit of the 60s

The Hollywood star - who was married to actor Chris Sarandon between 1967 and 1979 - told The Sunday Times newspaper: "I think that the Beatles were right. What is the line? 'The love you take is equal to the love you make.'

"I think it's very hard these days, when we're being assailed by so much negativity and selfishness and greed, to hold a place of love and possibility that people can find when the dust settles."

Susan previously revealed that she's determined to "leave the world a little better".

The actress is well-known for her active support of progressive causes, and Susan is desperate to have a positive impact on the world.

She told British Vogue magazine: "I'm painfully aware of the lottery of birth. Injustice really bothers me.

"In my business you are constantly developing empathy and imagination - once you can put yourself in another mother's struggles you can't resist activism. I want to leave the world a little better or at least know I tried. You create your life and passion with the energy you put out there."

Despite her fame and success, Susan has actually made a concerted effort to simplify her own lifestyle in recent years.

The award-winning star - who has kids Eva, 39, Jack, 35, and Miles, 32 - explained: "[My] lifestyle really went through the biggest change when I had three children. Now I'm mostly simplifying."
