Britney Spears treated herself to a "fun vacation" for her 43rd birthday

The chart-topping pop star celebrated her latest birthday on Monday (02.12.24), and to mark the occasion, Britney jetted off to Mexico for a sun-filled vacation

A source told PEOPLE: "Britney treated herself to a fun vacation for her birthday.

"She loves Mexico and can't wait to celebrate in the sun."

Britney headed to Mexico "with friends" on a private jet, according to the insider.

Earlier in the day, Britney gave her social media followers a behind-the-scenes look at her birthday celebrations, revealing that she was enjoying "delicious wine" before having dinner.

The pop star subsequently took to Instagram to reveal that she had a "very cute" birthday cake that was topped with chocolate lattice and strawberries.

Meanwhile, Britney split from her ex-husband Sam Asghari in 2023, and the pop star previously took to social media to admit that she was "a little shocked" about their break-up.

Britney wrote on Instagram at the time: "As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together ... six years is a long time to be with someone so, I'm a little shocked but ... I'm not here to explain why because it's honestly nobody's business. But, I couldn't take the pain any more, honestly."

Britney also thanked her fans for their continued support.

She said: "In some sort of telepathic way, I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends and I thank you.

"I've been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it's far from reality and I think we all know that. I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but for some reason I've always had to hide my weaknesses."
