    Honey Boo Boo doesn't have "any expectations" for her mother anymore

    The 19-year-old reality star shot to fame alongside Mama June on their reality show 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' in the 2010s but she had a fractious relationship with her mother - who was battling with addiction - in the years that follows


    She told People: "It was hard, but at the end of the day, she's my mom. When she was bad in her addiction I just kept thinking about the day she'd recover. We're going pretty good. Hopefully it lasts. I just no longer have any expectations for her.

    Honey Boo Boo - whose real name is Alana Thompson - was joined by her mother for the interview, and the 'Mama June: From Not To Hot' star insisted that she "doesn't remember" who she was in those dark times.

    She said: "I don't remember who that person was, because I've worked so much on myself."

    Alana has claimed that at the height of her mother's struggles, Mama June - who has since achieved sobriety - took $35,000 from the appearance fee she received for her stint on 'Dancing with the Stars Juniors'.

    The former child star also claims she has not seen any of her earnings from her days on 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' and even though she recently received her 'Dancing with the Stars' money back, she has alleged that "there was no, 'I'm sorry'" from her mother.

    However, June is not able to discuss the incident too much because it is being explored on camera for the next season of 'Mama June: Family Crisis' on WeTV.

    She said: "I can't really talk about the money. That's this season."

    Alana - who is set to appear in 'I Was Honey Boo Boo' on Lifetime - is currently studying to become a nurse at Regis University and is pleased that she has "persevered" past her child star image.

    She said: "I just always told myself you know that you want to do something better with your life and bigger with your life than just being on TV, so you've got to get up and go, you've got to graduate so you can make it to college and be the nurse that you want to be.

    "When I graduate I'll be the only one in my family with a degree.

    "I love that I've persevered past who people thought I was."
