Teyana Taylor "cried [her] whole mask off" after being nominated for a Grammy

The 34-year-old star received a Grammy nomination earlier this month, and Taylor has recalled reacting to the news as a clear face mask dried on her skin.

Teyana - who released her latest album, Escape Room, in August - told People: "I was so excited but also so excited for the wonders that that face mask was doing, you know what I'm saying?

"But then my Nana started praying, and literally I cried my whole mask off. It was so amazing, so beautiful, the best way to find out."

Teyana previously took to social media to celebrate her Grammy nomination.

The music star admitted at the time that the nomination meant a huge amount to her.

She wrote on the photo-sharing platform: "Nearly twenty years ago on November 7th I signed my very first record deal. And on November 7th, 2025... God said "remember when I told you the weight/wait wasn't punishment? I told you it was preparation for what I already had written for you?? Baby girl, it's your time." [crying emoji]

    "Two decades of chapters -

    highs, heartbreaks, reinvention, revelation,

rooms I prayed to enter, rooms I had to walk away from,

and rooms I had to build myself.

    "Every tear.

    Every closed door.

Every whispered prayer at 3am in the studio.

Every moment I wondered if what I carried would ever be seen...

    "It all mattered.

"To finally receive my first GRAMMY nomination after 20 yearsssssss whew, my heart can barely hold the gratitude.

    To be seen this way.

To be acknowledged for something I created from pure truth and obedience...

It feels like God saying, "I never forgot you." (sic)"

Teyana - who has also enjoyed success as an actress and as a model - thanked her family and friends for supporting her return to the music business.

She wrote: "To my family, my team, my label, my day-one supporters and my prayer warriors..

you held space for me when I couldn't hold space for myself. You believed in me when I was tired...

when I was empty... when I was ready to let music go.

"You gently guided me back to my gift.

"To the phenomenal women who lent their voices and spirits to Escape Room -

to every producer, writer, engineer, creative, and soul who touched this project [crying emoji]

"this moment belongs to all of us. (sic)"
