Zawe Ashton has given birth to her and Tom Hiddleston's second child

The 41-year-old actress took to social media to reveal she is in "postpartum recovery", five months after confirming she was expecting another baby with the Loki star.

As with the couple's first child, neither Zawe nor Tom - who got engaged in 2022, the same year they became parents - have shared any details about the tot and didn't comment on the news when they stepped out together at the GQ Men Of The Year Awards in London this week.

Instead, Zawe revealed she had given birth when she shared details of her visit to Little Village HQ - a network of London-based baby banks, which pass on clothes and equipment essentials for little ones up to the age of five - earlier this week, where she donated nappies, postpartum care items, baby and toddler clothes and a "well-loved buggy".

She wrote: "It takes a village. Today, I chose to mark a milestone in postpartum recovery with a trip to one of the @littlevillagehq baby banks, dedicated to supporting families all year round.

"It was a joy to make the trip as Mama and @savechildrenuk ambassador and add to their donations with some nappies, postpartum care items, baby and toddler clothes and a well loved buggy. This was just the first installment!"

The Dreams of a Life actress called on others to follow her lead and donate what they can.

She wrote: "The daily pressures for families who can't access immediate means to provide all they need for their children, are compounded by the holiday season and the cold weather. Please follow @babybankalliance and find your local bank to donate those items looking for a new home.

"Most needed currently are jackets for 3-6 year olds, blankets and items that can be used as Christmas gifts."

Zawe also told how she has been "tirelessly working" to protect children who are "facing the most devastating living conditions" in the world.

She added: "Throughout my recovery, I have thought deeply about the children in our world facing the most devastating living conditions and those tirelessly working to protect them. I've reflected deeply on the ongoing war against children, a fight I am fiercely committed to. Our elected representatives and humanitarian law have made it clear: the bar for children's rights has been obliterated. Daily, we witness unspeakable crimes against the most vulnerable, perpetrated with impunity, funding, complicity, and protection.

"We are beginning to see the threads of these atrocities woven together, not through mainstream or legacy media, but through the relentless efforts of communities on the ground and online.

"Together, we are making sense of it holistically and those responsible are either revealing themselves or being exposed one by one.

"Staying in tune with our communities, decentering individualism, is a key way to resource the revolution that needs to come.

    Donate, volunteer, defund, boycott.

"I am eager to continue this journey alongside all of you, as we continue to demonstrate to the plutocracy, that there are NO children of a lesser God.(sic)"

Several stars congratulated Zawe, including broadcaster June Sarpong.

She wrote: "You look STUNNING [heart emoji] Congratulations Honey!!"

Zawe replied: "love you Miss June X"

Singer Leona Lewis wrote a message with three heart emojis, and many of Zawe's fans sent congratulations to her and Tom.

In June, Zawe confirmed she was pregnant, admitting she was an "expectant mother".

Speaking of her red carpet look at the SXSW festival, she said: "I feel really lucky to be working with someone that I know and who's been such a champion of me at this sensitive red-carpet dressing moment.

"I feel like I'll be very held on an evening where, as an expectant mother, you can feel a little bit exposed."
