Patrick Swayze's younger brother Sean Swayze has died at the age of 63

He passed away on December 15 at the Antelope Valley Medical Centre in Lancaster, California.

According to Sean's death certificate - obtained by TMZ - he died of acute upper gastrointestinal bleed and severe metabolic acidosis, which was caused by cirrhosis of the liver.

Cirrhosis of the liver is a condition that causes healthy liver tissue to turn into severe scar tissue as a result of alcoholism.

Sean's death certificate also revealed that he worked as a Teamster in the entertainment industry for 30 years.

He is survived by his brother Don Swayze and his children, Cassie, Kyle and Jesse.

Sean's cousin Rachel Leon paid tribute to him on Instagram.

Captioning a photo of Sean wearing a Dirty Dancing themed t-shirt - the 1987 romance-dance movie his late elder brother Patrick famously starred in - she penned: "I'm heartbroken to share that my cousin Sean Swayze passed away today.

"This is a picture he took recently for us to promote the Dirty Dancing crawfish theme. My daughter, a marketing manager, came up with this idea to honour our late cousin, Patrick Swayze. We sent the T-shirts to Sean, who wore them proudly for us. He was always fun and full of life.

"Just recently, we were talking about him coming down to Texas to spend time with us, and I was really looking forward to it. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his brother Don Swayze and his children, Cassie Swayze , Kyle Swayze and Jesse Swayze.

"We are praying hard for the entire family during this difficult time. Please know that we love you and are always here for you. Sean, I love you so much, and we will miss you dearly."

Rachel's followers rushed to the post's comments section to express their condolences.

One person wrote: "He was always a sweet and funny guy he had me laughing many times! He will be missed dearly."

A second user typed: "I'm very sorry for your loss. May his memory be a blessing."

And a third person left: "Rest in peace Sean. Now you are back with Patrick."

Patrick - who was nominated for a Golden Globe award for his performance as Johnny Castle in Dirty Dancing, in which he taught Frances 'Baby' Houseman (Jennifer Grey) to dance and be herself - died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 57 in September 2009.
