Charli xcx is looking forward to turning 40

The Guess singer has revealed that she is embracing getting older as she thinks women have more style and intelligence as they accrue life experience.

Charli told the Long Winded with Gabby Windey podcast: "I'm 33 and I just feel great. I feel so good.

"I feel so much better than I felt when I was 25. I feel so much more in control of who I am and what I want.

"Obviously, not always. Sometimes, I'm a complete nervous wreck and I hate myself. When I was a lot younger, I think I was a lot more nervous about ageing - in that way we're kind of indoctrinated to think as women, like, 'Oh my god, we're getting old, we're 30.'I feel awesome. And I feel f****** cool."

The pop star continued: "I have female friends who are in their forties and I'm like, 'Damn, you're so cool, so chic and have incredible style and are so intelligent.' I can't wait for that.

"Even though sometimes I'm like, 'Damn, it's gone by really fast', I feel really good about getting older. There's something really chic about it to me."

Charli plays a fictionalised version of herself in the mockumentary film The Moment and explained that she would "love" to continue working in the movie industry going forwards.

Speaking to Extra, Charli - who also provides the soundtrack for the forthcoming flick Wuthering Heights - shared: "It's amazing.

"I feel so inspired to be working in film, whether that be as an actor or a producer or doing the soundtrack.

"I just I feel like really passionate about working with directors who I think have a singular vision, and I feel so grateful that I'm a part of both of the projects."

The Brat artist explained that she can relate to her character in The Moment, although she quipped that she hoped she's not as much of a "nightmare" as the film version of herself.

Speaking at the Sundance Film Festival last month, Charli shared: "I'm obviously quite related to my character, so I had a lot of inspiration to pull from.

"I would like to think I'm not as much of a nightmare as Charli in the film, but my real managers are in the audience and they probably know the true answer to that."
